On the third day of #TCRXmas I welcome lovely Pat Elliott to our blog. Pat is the author of two books ‘All in the Leaves‘ and ‘Leaves for Chloe‘ and is currently working on her third novel. She’s one of the most awesome people on twitter and her tweets simply lighten up my twitter feed. She’s also a reflexologist and painter. Today she’s here to share her wishlist and I hope all her wishes come true. Also, Pat has kindly donated one gorgeous Leaves for Chloe tote bag and miniature original for a Xmas card for one of you guys, so make sure you enter the giveaway. Many thanks to lovely Pat for visiting today and to you guys for reading.
All I Want for Christmas
On Twitter there are many Christmas competitions and some of these I entered. One, run by @Mira_booksUK asked us to name our Christmas Wish to win a bundle of books. In 140 characters, maybe less, I stated my wish to see my friend gain employment before the Day. Her smile would be the best present. I won the competition and in DMs told Mira that I would share the prize with my friend; she reacted with tears that someone would love her enough to do that. Within the next 24 hours, she’d been offered a position! Was it Mira’s work? Or the magic of Christmas? There was my wish, granted.
Then a good friend, Prof Dr Ana, asked if I would participate on her blog, with a feature on what I want for Christmas. A smile grew upon my face. Would I be lucky enough to be granted three Christmas wishes? It is a time when there is magic in the air…
On Twitter, I have a G-Romance going on with @wurdsmyth.
No, that’s not the two of us wishing for Flo to grow up and meet her G-Prince ( although “what-if” Miranda?)… it is the two of us sharing an old fashioned romance (feeling of mystery and excitement removed from everyday life). This mystery and excitement is based on where George and his Amazing Spaces programme will take us on a Thursday night. We blithely watch and dream of which Amazing Space will be the Dream Writing Shed for Miranda. We pick favourites and discuss merits. Therefore, if wishes for Christmas are to be granted, what I want, though it will end the romance, but start a lasting love… is for Miranda to receive an Amazing Space of her own – a Writing Shed. The smile on her face would be present enough.
In all good stories, the protagonist is granted three wishes.
For my third and final wish, shall I ask for World Peace?
The truth is, human nature being what it is, if that wish were granted, I fear it would only last for seconds. Someone would pick up their ball and remove themselves from the game; a second would throw a stone; a third call for all out attack. World peace would be gone and the wish wasted – therefore I am going to be self indulgent. Many people know that I love to paint. Many out there own one of my paintings. When I create a picture, there is a small part of my heart in there. Love, in every picture. The heart re-grows, for me to give away another small piece again. As a wise man once said, “The miracle of love is this. The more you give away, the more you have.”
My wish? For one day, I would love to see photographs of all of those paintings hanging on their walls, posted on Twitter. For when an artist sees their work framed and hanging on someone’s wall, they know at that moment, someone truly loved their creation. When you place a piece of yourself in every painting, it feels as if, at that moment, someone truly loved you.
There, the greatest gift of all. Love. That’s all I want for Christmas.
