#TCRXmas with Jill Steeples + #Giveaway

Posted December 25, 2015 by thischickreads in guest post / 27 Comments

And we’ve come to #TCRXmas’ end, sadly this is the last post. I want to say MASSIVE thanks to all authors who were involved, all who generously donated prizes for my lovely readers and all of you fabulous people for reading, commenting and supporting me during this blogging adventure. I’m known to be a big softie, so I’m trying really hard not to cry as I write this post, as 2015 has truly been a great year for me. Of course, I had my down moments, but thanks to all of you, supporting my work, brightening my day with your encouraging tweets I’m finishing this year stronger, wiser (at least I’d like to believe that 🙂 ) and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so amazing!

But now, back to #TCRXmas final post. Today, I have the pleasure to welcome lovely Jill Steeples, who’s recently published her festive book ‘Warm Winter Kisses’, which is on my kindle and I can’t wait to read it. Jill will share her wishlist for this year and is also donating a PAPERBACK of LET’S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF and a gorgeous beaded bookmark for one of my blog readers. Enjoy her post and make sure you enter the giveaway. Many thanks to lovely Jill for being part of my Christmas countdown and generously donating such a wonderful prize. Once again, THANK YOU for reading and hope you had fun during my blog festivities! I promise to repeat it again! See you soon!

All I want for Christmas is …

My two front teeth…(or at least no dental traumas please!)

As a family, we are frequent users of the emergency dental service. Weekends, bank holidays and the dead of night have all been occasions when we’ve had to track down the services of the on-call dentist. If we can possibly get through the Christmas season without any broken crowns, missing fillings or raging toothache then I’ll consider that a real bonus.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

One of the best things about the holiday season has to be settling everyone around the table for a sumptuous Christmas dinner and, in particular, all the lovely trimmings that go alongside: crispy roast potatoes, sauteed brussel sprouts with chestnuts, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, stuffing and rich gravy.  Hmmm, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!  There must be plenty of leftovers too though for bubble and squeak on Boxing Day!

Children playing, having fun

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a game or two. Don’t you think…? There’s nothing better than a round of Trivial Pursuit, charades or Scrabble to foster that warm competitive spirt between family members. I love it!  Although if anyone should dare to suggest a game of Risk you’ll find me on the sofa with a glass of Prosecco and a good book!

A bit of peace and goodwill all round

Generally our house isn’t very peaceful, and sometimes, there isn’t a lot of goodwill floating around either so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time en famille, eating, drinking and having fun. That’s if we haven’t all fallen out with each other by then playing games!

Thank you for having me, Ana! Wishing you and all your lovely readers a Very Happy Christmas!

Reasons why you should never, ever, read your best friend's diary (even if it has fallen to the floor, pages open oh-so temptingly...): 1) It's morally indefensible. 2) She would never trust you again. 3) You probably know it all anyway... So what harm could the tiniest peek do...? Answer: Lots! The best reason for never reading your best friend's diary: You might just find out something you really didn't want to know! Learning her fiance, Ed - the guy she's supposed to marry this weekend! - is having an affair with her best friend, is a devastating bombshell for bride-to-be Anna. Confused, hurt and absolutely livid, she hops on the first train to anywhere-but-here in need of some serious soul searching. Can she ever forgive Ed? Who is Anna 'sans Ed'? And more importantly, should she go through with the wedding or should she just call the whole thing off?

Thanks to lovely Jill, we’re offering you guys a chance to win A PAPERBACK OF LET’S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF + GORGEOUS BEADED BOOKMARK. The giveaway is open internationally to 18+ readers (must be able to ship to a mailing address; no PO Boxes), and ends on 3rd January. Winner will be contacted by e-mail or on twitter and will have 48 hours to claim their prize. If we don’t hear from them during this period, we’ll be drawing another winner from those who’ve entered. Best of luck, everyone!

All the family together and the smilies on people’s faces. Or from a material point of view, a new handbag

There were 2 very surprising gifts I loved, one was a pair of cashmere bed socks from The White Company and the other was a candle of a winter wonderland scene but it is made and set in gel rather than wax. Obviously as a wife, mum and nana I was truly spoiled and had lots of the most gorgeous presents!

  3. The book sounds great, and the bookmark is very cute. I had lots of really lovely gifts this year. I had a special edition Anne of Green Gables book, which I love. But the best part is spending it off work with my Husband and family.

Well, my present was to see my favourite rockband in September (it’s been a very long wait – but worth every second) and we also have a new 8 month Labrador (on Tuesday) – so he wasn’t quite a Christmas present. 🙂
