When Serenity Holland proposes to her long-time boyfriend Jeremy, she’s certain ‘forever’ is a perfect fit. As the wedding train steams forward, though, Serenity starts to wonder if they really are an ideal match. From a crusty old ring to a dilapidated house she’s left to renovate on her own – not to mention the appearance of Jeremy’s clingy ex-fiancée – engagement feels more like disengagement.

Even worse, wedding planning’s like a bad hangover as Serenity juggles the wishes of family and friends with her bossy mother-in-law-to-be, resulting in a Frankenwedding nothing like the simple ceremony she envisioned.

Can Serenity knit her relationship back together and fashion a celebration that suits, or will ‘I do’ become ‘I don’t’?

Talli Roland is one of my favorite chick lit authors and I always turn to her books when I feel grumpy or need a cheer. She writes about very serious topics in a humorous way, and all her books have a strong feel-good factor. I love her positive thinking, her interesting characters and most of all her always optimistic and humorous “happily ever after”.

‘Marriage to Measure’ is the third in a series and the main character is Serenity Holland. After ‘Build a Man’ and ‘Construct a Couple’, where Serenity meets Jeremy and falls in love with him, this time she decides to tie the knot. Serenity Holland is everything but an ordinary girl. She knows that ‘proposal etiquette was definitely not designed with females in mind’. Proposing her long-term boyfriend,  Jeremy, seems like a piece of cake, but everything changes when the parents get involved. She and Jeremy know what their wedding’s suppose to look like, but Jeremy’s mother has something else on her mind. Serenity loves Jeremy very much, and though she respects Jeremy’s mother, knows it is her wedding after all. And so start troubles in paradise.

Serenity is one of my favorite chick lit heroines. A Jaffa cake lover, she makes me laugh very often while reading her every adventures. She always tries to please everyone else and listens everyone else’s wishes and suggestions, but at the same time tries to stay faithful to herself. She has a heart of gold and it is very easy to love her.

Talli Roland created an adorable couple. With each book in the series she pushes them to their limits and makes them leave their comfort zone. Tying the knot is just another getaway from the comfort zone. Spice it with the mother-in-law and Jeremy’s ex-girlfriend in sight, Serenity has a plenty of job to do.

I really wish that this book was a little bit longer. I really hope that Ms. Rolland saves those extra pages for book #4 in the series. I can’t wait to read it more of Talli’s books.

  1. I, too, love Talli’s writing style and I’ve read both of the previous Serenity books and loved them. I think the blurb is outstanding too. Great review…9/10. Wow.
