today we have the pleasure to welcome lovely Katey Lovell to our blog. We’ve met Katey when we started blogging and ever since she’s made the big leap and turned from book blogger to author. We were so happy and proud of her when we heard HarperImpulse will be publishing her works. She’s published two short stories so far, in The Meet Cute series and they sound and look adorable. We can’t wait to read them! We’d like to wish lovely Katey loads of success in her writing career and many thanks for stopping by our blog. Read on for her fabulous post.
Clubbing, as in night-clubbing, seems like a word from a different lifetime. I’m in my mid-thirties now (how did that happen?) and getting dressed up every Friday night to dance in a dark, sweaty room full of strangers seems like something that happened a very long time ago. That’s not to say I’ve not been to a club recently, because I did go to an 80s club in Brighton on my friend Jenny’s hen do earlier this year, and I did stop on to dance to some indie tunes at The Leadmill after watching the fabulous Johnny Marr back in March. But twice in a year. That’s hardly party central.
Toby Riley, the leading man in The Boy at the Beach, is a DJ at a Magaluf club. He plays classic dance tunes and chart favourites to a crowd who’ve drunk far too much, and he’s absolutely gorgeous in a boy-next-door kind of way. In my mind he looks like Radio One’s Chris Stark who I have a massive crush on! But the truth of the matter is no matter how cute the DJ, my hardcore clubbing days are behind me.
Lauren, the protagonist in The Boy at the Beach, is much more of a party animal than current-day-me. She can’t wait to escape her sleepy British town and get to Majorca for some ‘sun, sea and super-hot sex’. But somehow Lauren’s fallen for Toby before she’s even met him and she’s not interested in the tourists looking for a one night stand anymore…
You don’t need to be a disco diva or the first on the dancefloor to enjoy The Boy at the Beach. But if you’re getting ready for a big night out you’ll only need fifteen minutes spare to get a quick fix of romantic fiction before you hit the town. Or it’s perfect hangover-recovery reading…
